Vodafone are based in Newbury, to the West of the County, and are another global giant with its UK headquarters in the Thames Valley. Estimated to be worth 90 billion pounds, Vodafone is a global telecommunications leader that employs 5,000 people in West Berkshire with many more across the country.
Further along the M4, just a few miles from Heathrow Airport, is the large Slough Trading Estate. It is Europe’s largest trading estate in single ownership and its tenants include Mars, O2 and Ferrari. With an estimated 2.6 million potential employees within an hour of Slough, the Trading Estate is a prime location for any business.
While large trading estates housing large multinational companies are common in Berkshire the County also has thriving local businesses that provide goods and services through the Home Counties and South east of England. Berkshire is renowned for its Tech expertise and many digital firms are flourishing in the region.
The small business community is thriving within Berkshire which has a large Chamber of Commerce and a number of Business Networking International (BNI) chapters. Most towns in Berkshire also have Biscotti networking groups and Athena Networking for women. The Chamber of Commerce for Berkshire hosts conferences that are often attended by over 6,000 businesses and the Thames Valley Chamber is one of the largest in the country.
